SD-WAN

SD-WAN, or Software-Defined Wide Area Networking, is an exciting software-defined network (SDN) technology applied to WAN connections, offering simplified management and operation of a WAN by decoupling (separating) the network hardware from its control mechanism. The concept is similar to how SDN implements virtualization technology to improve data center management and operation.

A key benefit of SD-WAN technology is that it allows companies to build higher-performing WANs using lower-cost, commercially available internet access connections. SD-WAN augments or entirely replaces more expensive private WAN technologies. It is highly secure, resilient, and in some applications higher-performing.

SD-WAN is deployed in a variety of fashions, whether it be standalone hardware-based, carrier-based, or through an independent managed service provider. TelDesigns works with providers offering a variety of SD-WAN delivery options. We can expertly guide you to select the best one for your requirements.

Fiber Optic

Optical fiber (or “fiber optic”) refers to the medium and the technology associated with the transmission of information as light pulses along strands of glass or plastic. Optical fiber carries much more information than conventional copper wire and is not subject to electromagnetic interference and the need to retransmit signals. Recent aggressive investments in fiber optic build-outs have made this technology more accessible and viable to a greater number of businesses, even in rural communities.

Dark Fiber Solutions

Dark fiber is fiber optic cabling installed by a carrier and is exclusively under the customer’s management (privately lit) for their own use. It offers virtually limitless connectivity exclusively for your business. TelDesigns works with you to help choose the best carrier options for design, building, and electronics to integrate dark fiber network solutions for your business.

Ethernet Services

Carrier Ethernet services can connect offices and your team members almost anywhere, providing guaranteed bandwidth with the security of a closed, private local area network. Available Ethernet service speeds range from 100MB to 1GB and beyond.

Internet

TelDesigns can assist you in determining the appropriate internet access solutions for your small-to-enterprise business whether it be coax, fiber based, carrier class wireless, or a combination of options. Speeds available range from 20MB to 10GB and beyond.

SONET

Synchronous optical networking (SONET) is a standardized digital communication protocol that is used to transmit a large volume of data over relatively long distances using a fiber optic medium. With SONET, multiple digital data streams are transferred at the same time over optical fiber using LEDs and laser beams.

Point-to-Point

PPP (Point-to-Point Protocol) is a protocol for communication between two computers using a serial interface, typically a personal computer connected by phone line to a server. For example, your internet service provider may provide you with a PPP connection so that the provider’s server can respond to your requests, pass them on to the internet, and forward your requested internet responses back to you.

Relative to the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) reference model, PPP provides layer 2 (data-link layer) service. Essentially, it packages your computer’s TCP/IP packets and forwards them to the server where they can be put on the Internet.

MPLS

MPLS stands for Multi-Protocol Label Switching and is a data carrying service for routing traffic within a high-performance telecommunications network. Data travels from one network node to the next on short paths rather than long distance network addresses, avoiding complex lookups in routing tables.

MPLS is a scalable protocol-independent transport that can provide applications including VPNs (Virtual Private Networks) and traffic engineering (TE) with guaranteed Quality of Service (QoS).
